Today is Your Day
When people around you seem to be content where they are, you may need to move away from them to get to where you need to be.
You can’t allow people, places, or things to stunt your growth. God has a plan for your life which you will only achieve by being in motion; pressing towards His destiny for your life.
Every one of us has been placed on this earth for a purpose. It is your right and your responsibility to fulfill your purpose.
Galatians 6:9
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
We must make a conscious effort to pursue our purpose. Nothing happens when you do nothing. Everything takes effort. It takes effort for you to listen to or read these words. It takes effort to decide to change where you are and what you are doing. It takes effort to create a plan to move forward. It takes effort to make steps in a new direction, or continue in the right direction. And it all starts with you. No one can do it for you.
Words can motivate, people can encourage and inspire, but you must make the effort.
Don’t depend on someone else to join you or pull you along the way. It’s great to have someone in your corner to cheer you on with each step, but you must keep moving. Even when there isn’t anyone physically there, God is always there.
Oftentimes we depend on validation from man to know we are moving in the right direction. What more do we need than the encouragement of The One who placed us on this journey in the first place.
Just as the Lord God said to Joshua in Joshua 1:8, He is saying the same thing to you and me. There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Now is the time to move forward. Now is the time to make a decision to follow the path that has already been laid out for you. Now is the time to put the past behind, gird up your loins, move forward and not look back.
What are you going to do today to make a change in your life?

Let Your Passion Be Greater Than Your Fear
My favorite question, as I have mentioned previously, is
to ask people, especially adults, what they want to be when they grow up. Some people’s passions are obvious. There is no need for me to ask them at all. After spending just a few moments speaking
with them they cannot help but mention with great enthusiasm what kindles their
fire. Their face glows. They may share what they are doing, what
motivates them, and/or their future plans.
There are others that speak of a dream, desire, vision or
passion, but put very little effort behind bringing it to fruition. They have ideas of grandeur. They can even envision themselves where they
want to be, but have no plan to get there. We read in Proverbs 18:16 (KJV) a man’s gift maketh room for him, and
bringeth him before great men. We
also read in in James 2:28 (KJV) yea, a
man may say, thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy
works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. We must have faith, but it is the work or
belief and effort that we put behind the faith that actually shows that we have
faith.
If we say we believe, but never make an effort towards
what it is that we believe, do we really believe? You may not always succeed immediately out of
the gate, but you must open the gate and step on the other side.
Sometimes we say we have a dream or desire, but is it
even ours? Could it be the desire our
parents or someone of influence over our lives has for us? Perhaps we see people with dreams all around
us and we want one just because they have one. Never belittle, or allow anyone else to
belittle your dream. No dream is too big
and no dream is too small. If it’s your
dream you own it. Get excited about it! You may be the only one who is, but that’s
okay. It’s yours, and you are the one
that will feel fulfilled when it comes to fruition.
There are many things that may hold us back, some are
real and some are excuses. But even what
is real may slow us down, but should not stop us. Tragedy can prevent us from moving forward,
but we should not let it stop us. Sometimes it may have the reverse effect and
drive us forward. Budget may stop us,
but if we are experiencing a financial deficit we should channel our energy and
resources in a productive direction to keep us moving. When our momentum stops, even briefly, it is
difficult to restart our engine.
Procrastination may be one of the most powerful blocks
that prevent us from moving forward. We
come up with excuse after excuse, one of which is “I work better under
pressure.” Do you really work better
under pressure, or is it that you wait until the last minute and when you
complete your task you feel relieved? Do
you realize procrastination is a form of fear? You may be afraid of failure which is natural;
no one wants to fail, but you may be more afraid of success. What happens when you succeed? What is your
next step? What will be expected of you?
Whatever your desire, dream, vision or passion, in order
for you to succeed you must Let Your
Passion Be Greater than Your Fear, which is what I have done. My website www.gretahillman.com is

What Do You See?
Have you ever walked past a store in the mall or building
with glass front and taken a glimpse of yourself as you walked by? What did you
see? Perhaps you noticed your hair, your clothing, or even your stride as you
caught your image for a brief moment.
Once you passed that place you could no longer see your
image nor could anyone else that may have been glancing in that direction at
the same time. Your physical body was still in motion but the image was no
longer visible.
Depending on the glass your reflection may have appeared
elongated, or it could have appeared to be stretched out or shrunken. Paul says
in James 1:22-24 but be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving
your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like
unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he beholdeth himself, and
goeth his way, and straightway fogetteth what manner of man he was.
What do people see when they look at you? We also read in
1 Samuel 16:7 ...for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the
outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. Just as you see your image
as you walk past the glass that is the same image man sees but is that who you
are? We read in James if you are not a doer of the word but a hearer only you
are that image that is in the glass. Once your reflection is gone you forget
who you are on the inside. You lose track of what God has called you to do if
you are looking and listening but not doing.
Oftentimes we get excited when we have an idea or a
vision in mind of what we want to do or the direction in which we believe God is
leading us. But once we take our eyes off of how we see ourselves involved in
our destiny, or if we no longer hear ourselves talking about what it will take
to get there we are no longer taking steps towards reaching our goals. We are
no longer doing that which will take us there.
But we are just like that image in the glass; our image
is no longer there. We must always stay proactive. We must always be in the
business of being in business. It is easy to become distracted and lose sight
of our goals. But we must do something every day to remind ourselves of what it
is that we are striving to do. I don’t like to use the word small because there
is no small effort. Any effort at all should be rewarded because it takes you
one step closer to your victory.
I will close this by saying don’t forget the image in the
mirror. You may be the only one that sees it. Let your works speak for
themselves because the image is only temporary.
